From 3rd World to 3rd Generation

Well it's been a while, becoming lazier and fatter as the extended holiday wears on! We have now reached Miami in the US of A, where 3rd Generation Hummers retail for about $30k and are about the most sighted car out on the streets, we even saw a Hummer Limo within the first 24 hours of us being here! Crazy stuff! But before I continue about Miami or start to boast about how good the Australian Football Team is (sorry Shotty), I will bring you up to date on our closing minutes in South America and finally post a few photos for you all to gander at........
(Actually I just figured out how to post photos in seconds as opposed to hours, so you would of already looked at all these photos above, the ones from Tyrona also.)

So we headed from Taganga out to Tyrona on probably one of the roughest boat rides per boat size I, Lilla & definitely the Uruguayan Lady barfing at the back the whole time, have ever been on. We made a stop at Crystal Beach, obviously named for its Crystal Waters and awesome snorkelling, before continuing onto Cabo San Juan de Guia which was simply breathtaking! We headed for the Pogada on the headland, set-up our hammocks and instantly felt very chilled.

We met about 9 other Aussies and spent the next couple of days kicking around the footy, singing Screaming Jets & INXS, swimming and sun baking before heading back to Taganaga for 1 last night out with a couple of the Tyrona crew before jumping on a bus for Venezuela. Sunday we were off and away to Puerto Colombia & Henri Pittier NP, Venezuela, after a rather large argument at the bus terminal between the customers and the bus company (pretty funny trying to piece together what in the hell was going on).

A couple of final days on the beach and taking it rather easy befor heading to Caracas. We bumped into a Norweigan girl we met in Colombia who told us that unless we wanted to buy or witness the use of crack & sex, or be held up by gunpoint we should avoid Lonely Planets reccomendation and stay as far away as possible from Sabana Grande, so we headed for Alta Mira (the posh place) and splurged on our last night in South America with a nice hotel and some fancy dinner in La Mercedes before finally heading North on Thursday morning to the Airport, on our way to Miami.

But after 11 countries and almost 6 months down South, we thought we would put together a bit of a `Best of South America` compelation (actually this is Dave`s idea, but rather a good one so thought I would grab it for my own), so here goes........

Moving right along.....
So we few into Miami and into our second succesful Couch Surfing expedition. We landed with a TV & Film Producer named Michelle we lives just outside of the Gables, a real flash burb, and just down the road from Calle 8, Little Havana so we've been speaking equal Spanish to English since we have been here. We've been doing loads of shopping and bending the budget into all sorts of terrible, unrepairable extremes, hanging out with Michelle and her cool amigos, hired a convertible and checked out the Everglades, checking out South Beach and eating well (or not so well, depending on how you look at it) and were planning to head down to the Keys today or tomorrow in our sick convertible but Hurricane Alberto, the first of the season which has completely killed Cuba, may have put an end to those plans, so it likes like more South Beach chillin, eating and partying before we head South Again for Nicaragua on Thursday & watch Australia win yet again on Sunday (one can dream)!

Really looking forward to spending some time in Centrals, catching up with the old amigos & familia in Honduras as well as visiting Santos, my Worldvision Sponsor Child in the sticks, before heading Carribean bound for more islands, diving and beach, it's defintely going to be interesting to see what's changed in the last 8 years.
